Panasonic Eluga hands-on

Panasonic Eluga hands-on

Panasonic are hungry for some international smartphone action with two very attractive devices this year – the Eluga and Eluga Power.
The Panasonic Eluga is based on the popular TI OMAP-4430 chipset utilizing a 1GHz dual-core Cortex-A9 processor and 1GB RAM. The screen is a 4.3" OLED unit of qHD (640x960) resolution, while on the back we find an 8 megapixel camera with LED flash.

The Eluga is running on Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread but the 4.0 ICS upgrade is planned for later this year.

What helps the Eluga stand out is its dust and water resistance. It's IP57 certified (dust and water) and should withstand meter-deep immersion for 30 minutes. We've got some live pictures to show and that should be more interesting than dry specs.

Panasonic Eluga Power hands-on

The freshly announced Eluga Power is the more interesting gadget. It features a huge 5-inch LCD touchscreen of HD resolution and is based on the powerful Qualcomm MSM8270 Snapdragon platform (1.5GHz dual-core Krait processor, Adreno 225 GPU and 1GB RAM).
